the problem with pop is that it isn't written or performed by people with an interest in understanding and writing music, it's written by people with an interest in being popular and wealthy. And, the people aren't interested in listening to music to engage their minds ... more interested in following rich and famous "musicians". Yeah, people also listen to pop because it gets them going
yeah, for sure. It is easy to listen to.
But it's all subjective, what gets people going.
I find that listening to relaxing music engages myself, because most of what I listen to is complex enough that I find something new every time I listen
exactly, I mean I find listening to metal relaxing, and I know others don't understand it, nor do I expect them to.
but to my personal taste, it is my favorite medium of engagement, the combination of harmonies, rhythms, dynamic changes, etc all get me going.
It's all in the interpretation, folks. I think the keyword here is "subjective."
